This Week Under The Book Shepherd’s Roof

Hello and Good Publishing Day to YOU …

Love the mask imagination that I see everywhere. Last week, my daughter Shelley “took orders”—23 designs to choose from … we all stepped up to order our favorites. I now have 7 that get rotated. Plain black … are you kidding… express our personality … have some fun … and stay safe. My two bits. Love the one: Do you read? Read my book! And the one that simply says: Read my book! Onward all.

As May closed in podcast land, the AuthorU—Your Guide to Book Publishing kissed the big 200—

200,037 downloads bubbled up this past month. That is a wowsa!

This was a week where two more books were finished, and back cover copy created. Congrats to Kim Curtis for Retirement Secrets and J C Childers for What Are You Going to Do the Rest of Your Life?  With COVID-19, each required last-minute adds.

I’ve been buried working with writing projects for clients and doing multiple interviews for a new book that I’m cowriting for a client. Little did I know that I would become a deep learner of all things opioids!

Oh my … bunnies are cute, but they can destroy the garden quickly. It’s my Bunny Blaster (my name for it) to the rescue. When I see them, I pump it up, and aim—a good 30 feet of water is delivered to the rear/side/head and bunnykins moves quickly away—to someone else’s garden. I also use it for the deer—the buggers will eat just about anything too. The first year I moved, they ate two of my new trees. Speaking of trees, the purple robe locusts are one of my favorites. Blooming for the past two weeks, they’ve become “the place to bee” as in bumblebee. Look closely, and you see one.

Fridays Virtual Happy Hour is a wonderful way to end the week (you do know that Friday is typically the end of the WORK week … yes? The password is my first name: Judith—that’s Judith. Many of you email me during the hour asking for the password—I’m not responding … because, I’m not reading emails.

Questions of the Week:

Question: Should I use a Nom de Plume as my writing name?

Answer: In a word: NO … unless you need to be hidden. Otherwise, it’s a pain in the tush. You need to develop a new persona. You now have a real you and the fake one. Nom de plumes are pseudonyms. Are you ready to do the work to create it?  Or a different website from what you normally use? How do you plan on being interviewed when you are “in person”?  How do you plan to stay in touch with fans … or build fans? It sounds like fun, but in my experience, most authors wished they hadn’t.
